Local and Regional Government

Local and regional government is facing significant reductions in budgets, not least within the IT environment, while still being expected to deliver against ambitious targets.

Delivering greater access to services - giving citizens greater choice, irrespective of logistical constraints, and meeting the requirements of a broad social demographic, with both traditional and emerging communications media

Increasing outreach into the community  – reaching young, old and vulnerable communities, while reducing employee travel and improving working conditions/efficiency

Improving the economic performance of the area – driving job creation by attracting businesses to the area, and improving retail spending by making it an attractive place to live and/or visit

Creating a sustainable community – through a number of ‘green’ initiatives, including reducing travel by council employees, and improving the energy efficiency of buildings and systems.

Telindus works with a number of regional government organisations to help them identify ways of achieving these objectives. We are also working with these organisations to transform their ICT infrastructure to operate within the Public Services Network (PSN) infrastructure and exploit the potential benefits of Cloud computing. As well as this, we help address the additional security and traffic management challenges from the emergence of social media and intelligent mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

Case Study – Buckinghamshire County Council

Since 2000 Telindus has worked with Buckinghamshire County Council to provide a County wide, high bandwidth network. The initial role out provided unified connectivity for all five County Council area offices, the county libraries, Adult Learning facilities and numerous Council agencies and affiliates.
