Modern forces operating in combined and joint operations in the modern world need to be fast, flexible, and communicate easily. The effectiveness of today's forces needs to be maximised in a cost conscious society. These forces need to go to the crisis and, once there, be able to sustain their logistic tails.
When field operations become a reality, the military application of force needs, and is expected, to be on time and precise. This will only be the case if the capability for command and control, the gathering and dissemination of intelligence, and even mundane day-to-day administration is second to none.
At Telindus, we understand the needs and requirements in the defence arena. Our professional design, implementation and maintenance of complex multi-vendor mobile and fixed network infrastructures is reinforced by our holistic network and information security capability. We provide secure networks engineered to provide the highest levels of data security and integrity, whilst enabling free communication where it is needed.
Case study - Defence Communication Services Agency (DCSA)
Telindus has been working with Defence Communication Services Agency (DCSA) since 1999 focussing mainly on data and video traffic. It also provides the DCSA’s Ship Alongside System (SAS) – broadband connectivity for ships whilst they are docked alongside naval bases.. Prior to the system’s implementation, ship to shore communication was only really effective once the ships were at sea and using satcomms. With the SAS, Telindus has significantly improved operational communications for naval vessels whether at sea or on shore, which means that operational business can now be conducted whilst in port rather than waiting until the ship is back at sea.
“In addition to the clear operational benefits, SAS has also really changed the day-to-day lives of those onboard: when you work for the Royal Navy, the ship becomes your home, so things that many civilians take for granted, such as connectivity, have a significant impact on the crew. This becomes amplified, especially when you consider that many sailors have to remain onboard the ships even when they are alongside. Working with Telindus has allowed us to keep the crew motivated and bring normality to their lives on board. It has also allowed us to keep our connectivity problem free. Networks are something you don’t tend to notice until they go wrong but with Telindus ensuring that ours is in ship shape condition at all times, I have to say it’s something we rarely have to think about”
