Telindus transforms network performance with new managed service
Unique Real-Time Application Control (RTAC) offering gives organisations ability to optimise WAN usage and revolutionise application availability
Odiham, UK - 30 July, 2007: Gartner estimates that businesses are wasting $55bn annually on network services (such as buying additional and unnecessary network bandwidth) when they should be looking at ways to optimise what they already have. The analyst firm predicts that if businesses optimised existing wide areas networks (WANs) and better utilised their current infrastructures, they should not need to upgrade their existing network bandwidth until 2008/09.
Recognising the need to ensure network performance, Telindus, an expert in delivering vendor-independent business and technology-focused network solutions and services, today announced that it has developed a new managed service offering – Real-Time Application Control (RTAC) – that enables businesses to address bandwidth optimisation and increase operational productivity. RTAC can be delivered as an outsourced service via Telindus’ operator customer base or as a managed service directly from Telindus.
RTAC gives organisations the ability to manage WAN usage and align application availability against the critical function of the business. The Telindus approach to addressing networked application performance issues is to investigate usage from the top-down, i.e. from the applications themselves. The system measures data flows, sets priorities against applications and their importance to the business, and then seamlessly optimises the network to ensure that critical business applications get the very best connectivity as a priority. This means that businesses can divert network resources in real-time to ensure that the most critical applications have sufficient bandwidth when required. This minimises the need to purchase unnecessary network resource to satisfy a short-term demand and serves to improve users’ perception of application and network availability.
“RTAC is designed to improve the way businesses access information and to enhance their productivity and competitive advantage,” said Mark Hutchinson, UK Managing Director at Telindus. “Measuring the usage of all applications, by all users, provides the ultimate visibility of how and when they are being used across the enterprise. Only once a true measure of application usage has been determined will businesses be able to understand how best to deploy measures to maximise efficiency and reduce wasted expenditure.”
Working with its partner, Ipanema (see separate release), Telindus can deliver RTAC as a reporting-only service, providing consultancy and recommendations, or as an optimisation service for the WAN to reduce the need to purchase or upgrade connectivity. Detailed reports and network analyses are produced, delivering an overview of what is really happening in the WAN and providing remedial advice on how to increase the value obtained from the connectivity. Each application is then given an objective, and each session is measured against this objective and an Application Quality Score provided. RTAC is designed specifically to each customer’s requirements and is delivered on a cost per site per month basis.
“The ability to manage expenditure whilst increasing network performance is the Holy Grail for many businesses, and with RTAC Telindus is delivering a unique solution to this challenge”, added Hutchinson.
