Telindus launches IPTV services

Telindus TV head-end will deliver high quality broadcast MPEG-2 content over an IP network to a TV via an IP STB or PC

Odiham, UK – 12 March, 2007 – Telindus, an expert in delivering vendor-independent business and technology-focused network solutions and services, today announced that it has launched a portfolio of enterprise-class IPTV products in the UK.  Telindus’ IPTV portfolio has been engineered to allow digital content owners to maximise the revenue generating opportunities of broadband networks and engage with customers across multiple-platforms.

According to analyst iSuppli, global IPTV subscribers will rocket to 63 million by 2010, compared to three million during the year to 30 June, 2006.  In recognition of this trend, Telindus’ IPTV portfolio will provide operators with the capability to deliver ‘triple play’ services and digital content via a set-top box (STB) or direct to a PC.

“Consumers are becoming more sophisticated in how they expect to be communicated with, and this is driving an explosion in IP-based communications technologies,” said Mark Hutchinson, UK managing director at Telindus.  “Telindus’ heritage in IP technologies has enabled us to develop a portfolio of tools that can simply and effectively integrate with a company’s existing IP backbone to deliver digital content to consumers. We are confident that users will recognise a tangible return on investment by leveraging potential new revenue streams and by improving the way they communicate with consumers.”

The Telindus IPTV portfolio includes:
  • Telindus TV - IPTV solution for delivering digital TV via IP set top boxes (‘STB’) to a television or directly to a PC
  • Telindus VoD - a high quality MPEG-2 digital Video-on-Demand (‘VoD’) solution for a STB or PC, with full video remote control functionality, e.g. visual fast forward, rewind, pause and stop
  • Telindus CMS - content management system, delivering information describing the content available in the VoD system and the service menu
  • Telindus CARE - a web-based system for managing subscribers and the provision of Telindus play services
  • Telindus GUIDE - Telindus’ electronic programme guide (‘EPG’)
  • Telindus PLAYER – a PC-based MPEG-2 client
  • Telindus SHIFT - Telindus Shift provides the option of delivering time shifted TV broadcasts at either an individual or network level. Programmes are selected for storing from the electronic programme guide (EPG) and can then be accessed either on an on demand basis by individual users or automatically set to play out at set time intervals
  • Telindus MUX - Telindus Mux enables the creation of a multicast stream from individual audio and video streams
  • Telindus DATA – Telindus’ high speed data portal, which supports provisioning of high speed data services either on a metered or free basis and can support both a wireless and wireline service
  • Telindus GUEST - a customisable portal interface that can be used to promote the digital broadband systems and other services offered by a client (i.e. hotel). It allows a client to promote itself, its brand and can be accessible on both the TV via the STB and a PC
  • Telindus SIGN - this provides the ability to display a combination of video, text, images and live TV to PCs and displays via IP STBs. The system can operate as a stand-alone application displaying text and images or be integrated with VoD and IPTV systems to provide a media rich environment for delivering a range of services
“The IPTV portfolio is modular in its design, allowing customers the flexibility of selecting either ‘best of breed’ solutions from different network providers, or the complete Telindus solution – whichever is most suitable,” added Hutchinson.
