Telindus and the Royal Hospitals triumph at WBI Awards 2006

Innovative wireless and VoIP installation named as Best Enterprise Deployment (Public Sector)

Odiham, UK - 25 May, 2006 - Telindus, an expert in delivering vendor-independent business and technology-focused network solutions and services, announced today that The Royal Hospitals in Belfast fought off stiff international competition to be named Best Enterprise Deployment (Public Sector) at the Wireless Broadband Innovation Awards (WBIA).

The Royal Hospitals has deployed a wireless network, incorporating the latest Wi-Fi tags, wireless LAN (WLAN) and VoIP (voice over IP-protocol) solutions. In winning the award, it has demonstrated a tangible return on investment (ROI) by reducing administrative time and increasing hospital efficiency.

"We are delighted to have won this award with The Royal Hospitals, as it further proves that the convergence of voice and data across the wireless network delivers true business advantages," commented Mark Hutchinson, managing director at Telindus UK.  "The Royal Hospitals is an excellent example of how a customer with the vision to embrace innovation and the way staff access data across locations can have a dramatic effect on improving overall patient care."

"The award recognises the hard work involved in rolling out these applications throughout the hospital and the strong partnership that we have with Telindus and their chosen partners,' said Paul Duffy, IT manager at The Royal Hospitals.  "Wireless applications have enabled us to implement new technologies - such as wireless voice and tracking - and provide strong patient-focused services.  Having access to information at the bedside enhances the way that our clinical staff can deliver patient care and dramatically reduces the administration time - allowing us to discharge patients and free beds more efficiently."

Consisting of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Royal Jubilee Maternity Service, Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and the School of Dentistry, The Royal Hospital Group's wireless network includes a secure WLAN based on Trapeze Networks' award-winning Mobility System.  Managed by Trapeze's RingMaster management suite, the wireless network allows staff to use mobile technologies such as PDAs to communicate with colleagues in different departments, thereby reducing administration time and increasing operational efficiency.

Recent additions to The Royal Hospitals' network include state-of-the-art VoIP voice communicators from Vocera, and Ekahau Wi-Fi tags.  The Vocera Communication badges have all the functions of a normal phone but are small enough to be worn around your neck thereby enabling staff to do away with pagers and mobile phones.  The Ekahau Wi-Fi tags can be integrated with the existing patient tracking system to allow staff to track assets in real-time.
